14 common faults and solutions for cone crushers

As an important equipment in the mining crushing industry, the cone crusher has brought considerable economic benefits to mining crushing users. However, due to the harsh working environment, various problems will occur in the cone crusher. This article summarizes some common failures and corresponding solutions for crusher maintenance for your reference.

1. High oil temperature

Causes: poor oil quality or insufficient oil, bearing damage, high ambient temperature, no cooling water or low cooling water pressure, or blockage of the cooler. Solution: change the oil or refuel, replace the bearing, supply cooling water or increase the pressure of the cooling water, clean the cooler.

2. Raised oil temperature and oil pressure

Cause: The oil pipe or the oil ditch is blocked, and the safety valve is out of order. Solution: Shut down for inspection and repair.

3. After the oil pump is started, the oil pressure is low or the indicator has no oil flow

Causes: low oil temperature, blockage of the oil pipe or abnormal operation of the oil pump. Solution: Heat to increase oil temperature, and to repair pipeline or oil pump.

4. The oil contains a lot of fine mud and impurities

Causes: failure of the sealing and dust-proof device, or water shortage caused by blockage or leakage of water pipes. Solution: Shut down and re-seal or clean and repair, and replace with new oil.

5. There is water in the oil, and the oil level in the oil tank rises

Causes: water enters the thin oil station, or the cooler is leaking, and the water pressure is greater than the oil pressure, or the small cone breaker has too much water supply or the return pipe is blocked. Solution: cover the thin oil station, clean the oil tank, and change the oil. Or repair the leak or replace the cooler, reduce the water pressure, clean the oil tank, and change the oil. Or adjust the water supply or clean the return pipe, clean the oil tank, and replace the new oil.

6. The crusher vibrates strongly

Causes: The fixing device of the machine base is loose, or the crushing cavity enters difficult-to-crush materials, or too much material in the crushing cavity causes material blocking, or the parts are broken or worn, or poor lubrication makes the main shaft tightly packed by the bushing. Solution: Tighten bolts and pour, or control the type of feed material and strictly prohibit the entry of non-broken materials, or strictly control the feed volume, or stop the machine to check the accessories, or replace the damaged parts, and repair the oil pump and pipeline.

7. The crusher vibrates strongly, and the rotation of the crushing cone is very high.

Causes: lack of oil or dust in the oil between the main shaft and the bushing; insufficient clearance of the tapered bushing; wear of the bowl-shaped bearing bush or manufacturing reasons, the contact surface is as deep as the inner circle, and the cone body sinks. Solution: repair or replace bushings, spindles, etc., and find out the cause of lack of oil, eliminate it; adjust the bushing gap; re-grind, and meet the requirements.

8. The moving cone suddenly speeds up

Causes: the moving cone sinks or the spherical thrust bearing is damaged; the tapered bushing moves up and the gap between it and the main shaft is insufficient. Solution: Adjust the gap.

9. The drive shaft rotates unevenly, the belt pulley rotates after a strong knocking sound, and the moving cone does not move

Causes: gears are severely worn or damaged; the coupling keys are damaged; the main shaft is broken. Solution: Stop the machine to replace the gear and make the meshing clearance meet the requirements; replace the coupling key; replace the main shaft to strengthen the iron removal work.

10. An audible splitting sound is produced when ore crushing or idling

Causes: the liner is loose; the moving cone or the fixed cone liner is not round and impacts. Solution: Stop the machine and check the tightening of the screws and the shedding of the zinc layer.

11. After the knocking sound, the coupling rotates but the crusher does not move

Cause: The key of the coupling or gear of the transmission part is broken; the main shaft is broken. Solution: dismantle for inspection and renew; dismantle for inspection and renew.

12. The transmission shaft rotates unevenly and produces strong percussive sound

Causes: unqualified installation of bevel gears, poor meshing, excessive clearance, excessive axial clearance of the transmission shaft, or damaged gears. Solution: Correct the meshing gap or replace the gear.

13. There is a violent impact sound, the support ring jumps up, and then it works normally

Cause: Non-broken objects fall into the crushing cavity, and it is easy to cause the main shaft to break. Solution: Strengthen iron picking or install iron remover.

14. The granularity of discharge ore increases

Cause: The liner is severely worn.

Solution: Adjust the discharge port and reduce the size of the discharge port; replace the liner.
